The Japanese Popstars are well on their way to becoming one of Ireland’s hottest live dance outfits. The Derry trio have been confirmed to play Oxegen here at home while they will play Glastonbury, Exit, Glade, Rockness, Fuji Rock, Wireless, Planet Love (supporting The Prodigy), and numerous other summer festivals. They will release a new single, ‘We Just Are’, on 15 June, but before this the lads will embark on a US tour covering New York, LA, Chicago, Miami, Denver, Boston and other cities.
The Japanese Popstars exploded onto the scene in 2008 when debut album ‘We Just Are’ was released last year to widespread critical acclaim, and in turn winning over legions of fans including Electric Circus. Due to popular demand, the album, ‘We Just Are’, was reissued on 30th March this year complete with a second cd of remixes. The new track is melodic, blissed out electro, but with the bands trademark sound. The trio are currently writing their second album and they have just finished one of their biggest remixes to date, details of which will be announced very soon.
